15 Fastest Growing Skills in the US

Linkedin recently published their list of the 15 fastest growing skills in the US. It’s not surprise that Ai dominated the list.

“Artificial intelligence is at the forefront of this shift, and its impact is significant: LinkedIn data reveals that by 2030, 70% of the skills used in most jobs will change.”

I found the list to be a positive one for professional creatives, with four of the top five skills being ones that Ai-leaning creatives bring to the table:

#1 Ai Literacy
#3 Adaptability (crucial for the age of Ai)
#4 Process Optimization
#5 Innovative Thinking

Sketching with Ai

I posted this over on Linkedin this week. It’s an example of how with a real-time Ai tool like Krea, you can rough in your sketch iterations and they’ll get “sketched out” in a fidelity that matches the rest of the sketch.

The implications are intriguing. Your whole team can match a sketch style. Your internal or client presentations can all have the same fidelity, to better judge by intent, not quality of output.

The value of intent goes up. The value of traditional technical skills dips.

In the post there was a great comment regarding concerns on how processes like this will make non-designers think “everyone can be a designer”.

I agree that this will happen to a degree. Not everyone is educated on where designers and creatives add value.

It’s going to be on us to show that the value we provide is much more than just technical skills.

How to Fix Rough Edges in Vizcom

The auto selection tool in Vizcom is great to quickly isolate a portion of an image and render it with a different CMF.

If you have experience with this, you’ve undoubtedly run into the issue on the right image - you get rough edges and rogue pixels.

In this week’s R&D Lab, Manu showcases different strategies to get those edges cleaned up and looking like this right-hand image instead:

One simple technique that will improve your result is to select the background and then invert it to select the objet you’re looking to render. This works well with good simple contrasting backgrounds, but not the best for more complex subject-to-background scenarios.

Thankfully Manu spent time cracking how to get this to work on more complex backgrounds. Check out this week’s R&D lab update for this R&D effort. It’s a good one!
