DesignWanted Interview
“To delve deeper into the topic, I contacted one of the most relevant personalities in Artificial Intelligence for industrial design: Hector Rodriguez.”
I recently had the pleasure of sitting down and talking to Mario Alessiani of DesignWanted to talk about all things Ai and design.
I really enjoyed his thoughtful Ai exploration. One of his key points that resonated with me is that “the role of the designer remains crucial—not as a mere technician but as a thinker.” I agree. Our ability to effectively wield our creativity will be our greatest strength in the years to come.

A Form Refinement Exercise with Ai
Here’s a quick exercise to sharpen the blade and train your form refinement skills with the help of Ai.
Start with a sketch or other lower fidelity visual (image on left).
Next input into Krea.ai and and give yourself a couple of fixed elements to play with. Think of them like lego pieces. In this case a dark grey rectangle and a shorter yellow version to play with.
The rules are simple - you can’t change the shapes or the colors. You can only move and rotate them.
With those two elements, see what designs you can come up with.
I’ve done this plenty of times without Ai, but the beauty of using an Ai tool like Krea is that you can see a higher fidelity output (image on right), to better evaluate your choices, and you can look at many more options. If this was a basketball analogy, you’d be taking way more shots.

You can do this for product, interiors, graphics, etc. Give it a shot. It’s a fun exercise, brought to life by the power of modern Ai tools.
04 / COMMUNITY
Ai Adoption Challenges
Back when we built Franco Bikes, community was everything. It’s what carried us for 15 years.

This AIxC community is just as strong. I’ve met so many new people over the past year and learned so much from countless conversations.
I’d love to learn more about what your biggest challenges are when it comes to Ai adoption. I put together a poll below. Let me know how you’re feeling or shoot me an email with additional thoughts!
Thanks as always!
